Self-Harm Prevention: Parent Resources

Suicide attempts and other instances of Intentional self-harm rose significantly among teenagers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In collaboration with Safe Kids Vermont, the NNEPC has prepared several resources for parents to help prevent self-harm-related poisonings.

  • Safe Teens at Home: Medication Safety: This recorded presentation provides information on medication poisoning risks for teenagers—primarily poisonings due to self-harm—and prevention strategies for parents.

  • Self-Poisoning Fact Sheet: General information for parents and caregivers regarding intentional self-harm poisonings, along with important resources.
  • Mental Health Fact Sheet: Offers ways parents and caregivers can support a teen who may be at-risk for self-poisoning, including warning signs to look for and resources to support their mental health.
