Data and Statistics
For each of poisoning case, the NNEPC collects such information as patient age and zip code, the substances involved in the case, and the reason for the poisoning, such as product misuse, medication error or suicide attempt.
Monitoring
The NNEPC monitors its case data for concerning trends and outbreaks and provides weekly reports on key poisoning indicators to public health contacts.
De-identified data from the NNEPC and other poison centers are also uploaded to the National Poison Data System every few minutes, allowing for monitoring on regional and national levels.
Monitoring of poison center data can help improve public health and improve patient outcomes. See our success stories.
Data Reports and Fact Sheets
The NNEPC produces periodic reports that summarize case data for the state agencies that fund us.
The NNEPC has also produced fact sheets on key poisoning topics and responds to data requests on current poisoning trends.
